Today the crew brushed up on their medical training. The overhead set up a mock traffic collision scene with acting crew members as scene patients and had other crew members play out the scenario. The purpose of the training was to get familiar with what to do when arriving on scene of a traffic collision and how to size-up and relay the needed information to dispatch. The crew's EMTs also lead a class on how to use the medical equipment aboard the crew buggies such as the backboard, c-collar, tourniquet, and oxygen tank. This was to familiarize the non-EMT crew members with the equipment, its purpose and how to properly use it so everyone can be proficient when assisting the EMTs with patient care.
